Best Beaches in Dubai: Which Beach Is Best for You?

Eight places to put your towel down—or have it waiting for you. Compare the facilities, journey and real cost, then choose the beach that fits your day.

For most visitors, start with Kite Beach. It combines free public sand with useful facilities and optional paid comfort. Choose JBR for an easy visit from Dubai Marina, Al Mamzar Beach Park for a family picnic, or J1 when a particular beach club is the point of the day.

Our perspective: Sole Mio operates paid sunbeds and cabanas on Kite Beach. This comparison includes public alternatives and other operators; the recommendations below explain where each fits best.

Sun loungers and umbrellas on Kite Beach, with Burj Al Arab in the distance
Kite Beach is one option for a full beach day. Free public access and a reserved setup are separate choices.

Start here

A beach for the day you have in mind

There is no useful universal winner. A beach that is excellent for a dog walk may be inconvenient with a toddler; an inexpensive sunbed can become an expensive outing after parking and taxis. Start with what you want to do, then check the journey.

For a designated night swim, see Khor Al Mamzar and the named night-swimming zones. For a beach club and food credit, compare the specific package at J1.

These are different kinds of outing. “Free” refers to entry, not an umbrella, parking space or lunch. Use the beach names to jump to the full details and sources.

The beach map—and how to arrive

Use the map to compare neighbourhoods before committing to a cross-city trip. Numbered pins identify destinations, not guaranteed parking gates, accessible entrances or a particular operator’s reception.

Explore the numbered beaches on the map, or use the directions links below.

Khor Al Mamzar is supplied as a labelled map search, not an unverified pin. Use its own name and entrance signs; the Beach Park marker is a different place.

Eight beach profiles, with the practical details

Each profile covers what makes the trip worthwhile, the facilities you can plan around, what you pay and where to arrive.

Umm Suqeim / Jumeirah coast

Kite Beach

Best for a flexible, full beach day

Our all-round pick if the beach itself is the main event. You can keep the day simple with your own towel, add a watersport, or reserve a lounger and umbrella. It suits a group whose idea of a good afternoon ranges from a beach walk to doing very little.

Facilities & shade
The destination lists free toilets, showers, baby-changing rooms, foot-wash facilities, a drinking-water refill station and wheelchair service. Umbrellas, loungers and parking are paid. Food options include SALT; activity providers arrange their own lessons and equipment.
What you pay
Public sand costs AED0. At Sole Mio, Regular passes are AED130 on weekdays / AED150 on weekends per person; VIP is AED160 / AED180. Both include a lounger, umbrella, towels and changing-room access. Food delivery is a service: the food and drinks you order cost extra. The booking form confirms your selected-date total and tax.
How to arrive
Use the Kite Beach destination pin for a public visit. For a Sole Mio reservation, use our reception pin in front of XDubai Skatepark, rather than walking along the beach looking for the booking desk. There is no beachfront Metro stop; a taxi for the last leg is the simplest option with beach bags.
The tradeoff
Free access does not solve shade. If you want to stay for hours, decide on your umbrella or booked setup before bringing everyone onto the sand.

Plan it this way. Bring a refillable bottle and keep a small bag ready for the toilets or changing rooms. Plan activities separately from a sunbed booking; neither a lesson nor a paddleboard is included in a Sole Mio day pass.

JBR / Dubai Marina

The Beach JBR

Best for a beach day without a car from JBR

Choose JBR when you want sand, a meal and an easy return to a Marina or JBR hotel. It is a better fit for a beach-and-promenade outing than a search for seclusion. Staying nearby can save more than choosing a cheaper lounger across the city.

Facilities & shade
The destination provides beach-access ramps, accessible toilets, baby-changing rooms and wheelchair requests through Customer Service. Accessible toilets are beside Adventure HQ and Sushi Art, and beachside in front of Bombay Bungalow. Sea Breeze rents umbrellas and seating; a standalone shower costs AED5.
What you pay
Sea Breeze lists AED125 for one sunbed or AED235 for two single sunbeds, including one towel and shower token per bed. Each towel also requires an AED50 cash deposit, returned under the operator’s return conditions. Rentals operate 8am–sunset; later restaurant hours are separate.
How to arrive
Take the Metro to DMCC and connect to the tram for JBR 1 or JBR 2, then walk to The Beach. Drivers can use the destination’s underground parking at AED20/hour. AED100 qualifying spend per bill normally validates three hours; Sea Breeze and certain named venues allow up to four. Give the venue your car plate number; kiosks, carts and vans do not qualify.
The tradeoff
A four-hour stay without parking validation adds AED80. Include that and the towel deposit when comparing the day with a hotel beach or public-transport outing.

Plan it this way. Take cash for towel deposits even if you plan to pay for the beds by card. Confirm parking validation while paying, before returning to the car.

Umm Suqeim, near Burj Al Arab

Sunset Beach

Best for a short visit with Burj Al Arab views

Pick Sunset Beach for a shoreline walk, a photograph with Burj Al Arab and a shorter stop by the sea. It is a more focused choice than JBR if a landmark view matters more than a long restaurant promenade.

Facilities & shade
There is a running track and a beach library station. Current showers, changing facilities and rental shade are not confirmed. Choose Kite Beach or JBR if those amenities are essential to a longer family visit.
What you pay
No admission ticket or public-beach reservation is required. Bring your towel, drinking water and sun protection. Allow separately for food and the journey, including any signed parking charge.
How to arrive
Search for Sunset Beach at 22 Al Sagi Street, Umm Suqeim, north of Burj Al Arab. Equiti and Mall of the Emirates are the nearby Metro options named by Visit Dubai; continue by taxi. A generic “Jumeirah Beach” search can send you to a different stretch of coast.
The tradeoff
Umm Suqeim’s major redevelopment was approved in February 2026. The announced observation tower and expanded parking are planned features, not amenities to expect on this visit. Follow the current signed public access.

Plan it this way. Treat this as a short scenic stop if you have not arranged shade. For a swim after dark, head to one of the signed night-swimming zones listed below.

Al Mamzar, northern Dubai

Al Mamzar Beach Park

Best for a family picnic with greenery

Our pick for a low-cost family outing when a picnic, lawns and play time matter as much as swimming. The park setting gives you more ways to spend the day than staying on an exposed patch of sand. It is especially worth considering from Deira or northern Dubai.

Facilities & shade
Visit Dubai lists five beaches, lawns and palm trees, play areas, picnic and barbecue areas, food kiosks and rentable air-conditioned chalets. Tree shade in the park is different from a guaranteed shaded place beside the water. Do not assume a chalet or pool is included in entry.
What you pay
Pedestrian admission is AED5 per paying person: four paying visitors cost AED20. The official kiosk separately lists a AED30 car-entry ticket; this is not a per-passenger price. Choose the appropriate ticket at purchase rather than adding the two prices automatically.
How to arrive
Use the Beach Park pin, not Khor Al Mamzar. RTA’s C28 serves Mamzar Beach Park Terminus via Union Metro Bus Stop 1; check the current departure in S’hail. Drivers can follow the E11 / Al Ittihad Road signs for Mamzar Beach Park via Exit 69.
The tradeoff
Monday and Wednesday are listed as ladies’ days. Mixed adult groups should choose another day; check the current admission policy if travelling with boys. The ticket kiosk lists 8am–10pm on weekdays and 8am–11pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Plan it this way. Tuesday or Thursday works for a mixed family group. Pack a picnic and make time for the lawns and play areas as well as the beach; check pool availability separately if swimming there is part of the plan.

Al Mamzar waterfront

Khor Al Mamzar Beach

Best for an evening walk and a designated night swim

Consider Khor Al Mamzar for a northern Dubai waterfront outing that can continue into the evening. This is the newly opened public beach development, a different destination from the ticketed Beach Park.

Facilities & shade
Opened on 5 May 2026, the development has a floating walkway, walking and cycling tracks, sports facilities, food outlets and facilities for people of determination. A designated 300-metre night beach operates 24/7; that permission does not extend to the whole shoreline.
What you pay
Public beach access and paid services are separate; the Beach Park’s AED5 ticket does not apply here. Allow for parking, rentals and activities, and check their prices before paying.
How to arrive
Use the Khor Al Mamzar Beach map search and follow the development’s entrance signs. Al Mamzar Beach Park is a separate destination, so give your driver the full beach name.
The tradeoff
The May opening announcement describes the Corniche as a later phase. Do not plan around the proposed Corniche women-only beach as though its opening were confirmed.

Plan it this way. Make the signed, lifeguarded night-swimming area your destination if swimming after dark is the priority. Choose the separate Beach Park for a ticketed park picnic.

Off Deira

Dubai Islands Beach

Best for a beach outing with a dog

The clearest choice in this guide if taking your dog into the sea is part of the plan. It also gives visitors staying in Deira an alternative to heading to the southern end of Dubai for every beach day.

Facilities & shade
Visit Dubai confirms dog swimming, beach volleyball and football, plus kayaking and paddleboarding with Blue Safari. The published access window is sunrise–sunset. Public access does not mean the nearby hotels’ pools, loungers or private beach services are included.
What you pay
Public beach access is separate from nearby hotel packages. Allow for activities and any parking or equipment hire; confirm prices on arrival. Bring your own towels, water and sun protection.
How to arrive
Take a car or taxi to “Dubai Islands Beach by Dubai Retail” using the destination owner’s linked pin. A generic Dubai Islands search covers a much larger area; a hotel entrance is not the public beach entrance.
The tradeoff
Current showers, changing rooms and rental shade are not confirmed. If those are essential for your group, choose JBR or Kite Beach, where the facilities are clearly listed.

Plan it this way. Bring separate drinking water and a towel for your dog, and keep the visit within the published sunrise–sunset window. Dog-friendly walking elsewhere does not automatically mean dogs can swim there.

Western trunk of Palm Jumeirah

Palm West Beach

Best for sunset followed by waterfront dining

Choose Palm West when the restaurant and evening atmosphere are part of the beach plan. It suits a relaxed walk followed by a booked table, or a serviced day at one chosen venue. Decide which of those outings you want before comparing prices.

Facilities & shade
The operator lists a beachfront jogging route, swimming and restaurants including Koko Bay, Jones The Grocer and Lucky Fish. The destination welcomes pets, but that does not establish permission for dogs in the water. Club pools, sunbeds and changing facilities depend on the venue you choose.
What you pay
A public visit to the destination is listed as a free activity by Emirates. A restaurant bill or a particular club’s beach package is separate; there is no single Palm West Beach day-pass price. A low-cost walk is a different purchase from a reserved bed and lunch.
How to arrive
Use the Palm West Beach pin on the western trunk of Palm Jumeirah and travel by taxi or car. On 11 September 2026, the Palm Monorail remained suspended for maintenance until further notice; check its service notice before planning a rail journey.
The tradeoff
Destination hours are 8am–midnight Monday–Friday and 8am–3am Saturday–Sunday; swimming follows separate beach rules. Check the signed parking tariff or your venue’s parking terms before settling in.

Plan it this way. Choose and reserve your restaurant or beach venue first, then save its arrival instructions. This is the simplest way to turn a sunset walk into a complete evening.

Jumeirah 1 / former La Mer destination

J1 Beach

Best for a booked beach club and restaurant day

Look at J1 when you want a particular beach club, restaurant or pool experience and are comfortable choosing the venue first. It belongs in a different budget category from laying a towel on a free public beach.

Facilities & shade
J1 is a collection of individually operated venues with different beach, pool and dining arrangements. At Gigi, the beach is kid-friendly but its pool is adults-only. Its beach sunbed does not include pool access. Gigi Circus is listed as closed for summer at this guide’s fact check.
What you pay
Gigi lists a beach sunbed at AED300: fully redeemable on food and drink Monday–Thursday, 50% redeemable Friday–Sunday. Its separate pool sunbed is AED400. Beach and pool operate 10am–sunset. Compare the included credit and use the chosen date’s booking terms.
How to arrive
J1 has valet-only arrival. Use the destination pin to find the district, then your booked venue’s drop-off instructions and valet terms; older La Mer parking directions may no longer apply.
The tradeoff
A dinner reservation does not automatically buy beach or pool access. Nor does a family-friendly restaurant guarantee that children can enter its pool.

Plan it this way. Read the beach and pool packages as separate products. A weekday visit can offer materially more food credit at the same regular beach-bed price; the worked example below shows how much.

The best choice for families and accessible visits

With babies or toddlers: prioritise the route between shade, toilets and changing facilities. Kite Beach and JBR both publish baby-changing facilities. Arrange your shade before arrival and keep the first outing short enough that leaving early is easy.

For a picnic and play space: Al Mamzar Beach Park is our strongest fit. Four paying pedestrians enter for AED20, leaving room in the budget for the rest of the day. Remember the Monday and Wednesday ladies’ days when picking a date for a mixed group.

For older children wanting activities: Kite Beach offers a flexible base, while Dubai Islands lists volleyball and paddle activities. Book any lesson or rental with its provider; the existence of an activity does not establish an age limit, price or inclusion in a beach pass.

For a club with a pool: check the pool’s policy independently of the restaurant and beach. Gigi is a useful example: its beach welcomes children, its pool is adults-only, and its kids’ club is listed as closed for summer at this check. A venue’s family-friendly label is not enough.

Accessible facilities: be specific about the last few metres

JBR publishes ramps, accessible toilets and wheelchair requests; Kite Beach lists wheelchair service. Those are useful starting points, but neither is a promise of independent movement across soft sand or into the sea. Ask the destination about the exact entrance, surface, transfer assistance and equipment needed for your visit.

At JBR, the accessible toilets named beside Adventure HQ, beside Sushi Art and beachside opposite Bombay Bungalow make useful landmarks when planning where to settle. Choose your setup around the facilities you will actually use.

Compare family beach-club options

Kite Beach or JBR: the deciding question

If you would still make the trip without a restaurant booking, start with Kite Beach. If the day is as much about lunch, a promenade and returning easily to a nearby hotel, start with JBR. Both can work for families; the travel and shade arrangement usually settle the choice more usefully than a generic ranking.

The bill, explained

What does a Dubai beach day actually cost?

Start with admission or equipment, add food, then transport and parking. The examples below are worked planning budgets, not package offers. Food allowances are our estimates for planning, not quoted menus; replace them with what you intend to order. No taxi fare is assumed.

Worked beach-day budgets in AED
Your outingCalculationSpend before transport
Solo, free public beachOwn towel and equipment: 0 + food/drink allowance: 50AED50
Four paying pedestrians, Al Mamzar Beach ParkEntry: 4 × 5 = 20 + picnic allowance: 100AED120 for four
Two adults, JBR with two sunbedsSea Breeze pair: 235 + food/drink allowance: 120AED355 + AED100 refundable towel deposits
Two adults, Sole Mio RegularTwo passes: 260 weekday / 300 weekend + food/drink allowance: 120AED380 / AED420, before any checkout tax adjustment

The solo and park examples assume you bring what you need and hire no seating. The JBR example includes two towels and shower tokens; the AED100 deposit is cash temporarily held, not part of the AED355 spend if both towels are returned under the operator’s terms. Sole Mio’s Regular passes include a lounger, umbrella and towels per person; meals are additional.

Sources: Visit Dubai · Al Mamzar Beach Park · Sea Breeze · equipment prices & deposits

Sole Mio price basis: Regular Beach Day Pass and booking terms. Weekday/weekend labels follow the booking product; use the selected date’s checkout to confirm the final price.

Travelling with a young child?

Al Mamzar’s ticket kiosk lists children up to two years old as free. Two paying adults and a one-year-old therefore cost AED10 in pedestrian admission. At Sole Mio, the Regular product lists an under-12 child rate of AED80; two adults and one child cost AED340 weekday / AED380 weekend before food, transport and any checkout adjustment. Confirm the child’s seating and included items when booking.

Food credit: the same bed can produce a different bill

Take two Gigi beach sunbeds and assume the pair orders AED400 of eligible food and drinks. That is an example order value, not a set menu.

Two Gigi beach beds with AED400 eligible food and drink
Regular published termsMonday–ThursdayFriday–Sunday
Two beach beds paid upfrontAED600AED600
Included food and drink creditAED600AED300
Extra due on the AED400 orderAED0AED100
Total, excluding transport / valetAED600AED700

Unused credit is not money back. A larger order, non-eligible purchases or a special-date package changes the total. This example covers beach beds; it does not include pool access.

Two extras that are easy to miss

Parking: four unvalidated hours at The Beach JBR add AED80. Qualifying venue spend may validate parking, but do not subtract it from the budget until your venue has applied it to your car plate.

Public transport: with an existing nol Silver card, an ordinary one-way RTA journey costs AED3, AED5 or AED7.50 according to zones. A return is therefore AED6, AED10 or AED15 per adult, assuming the same fare each way. This excludes buying the card and any taxi needed for the final leg.

Timing, swimming and what to bring

November to March is the best default for a longer beach day: Emirates recommends these months for outdoor activities. In hotter months, a shorter visit early or late in the day is more practical than planning to stay on exposed sand through midday. Check the day’s forecast and beach conditions before setting out; neither a season nor a paid pass guarantees comfortable swimming.

Sources: Emirates · best time to visit Dubai

For a walk and photograph, Sunset Beach is a focused stop. For beach time followed by dinner, JBR or Palm West makes a more natural single-destination outing. Avoid spending a short afternoon crossing the city to collect several beaches; choose one that covers the activities you actually want.

Where night swimming is specifically allowed

Dubai Municipality’s designated night-swimming zones are at Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3 and Umm Suqeim 1, operating from sunset to sunrise. The May 2026 Khor Al Mamzar opening added a designated 300-metre night beach operating 24/7. Use the signed swimming zone and follow lifeguard directions and flags.

Keep four clocks separate: beach access, swimming permission, equipment rental and restaurant opening. A 24-hour beach or a 3am restaurant closing time is not approval to swim along the whole coast after dark.

A small packing list that prevents a large inconvenience

  • Swimwear, a towel, sun protection, drinking water and a change of clothes.
  • A confirmed shade arrangement for a longer visit; do not assume a free beach supplies umbrellas.
  • Your booking confirmation and the exact reception pin if you have paid for a setup.
  • Cash for Sea Breeze towel deposits, or a topped-up nol card for public transport.
  • A cover-up for leaving the beach and a bag for wet belongings and rubbish.

UAE visitor guidance places swimwear at beaches, pools and waterparks; dress appropriately when leaving those settings. Ask permission before photographing other people. Follow the beach’s posted rules for swimming, pets and activities.

About this comparison

How we chose and checked these beaches

We compared eight destinations by public access, published facilities, shade, family suitability, transport and the cost of optional services. The recommendations are editorial judgements based on those differences, rather than an invented numerical score or a claim that one beach suits everyone.

Government, tourism-board, destination and direct operator pages were checked online on . Links beside each profile and cost example show the evidence. For conflicting information, we used the more specific source—for example, Sea Breeze’s own rental hours and the Palm Monorail’s service notice.

This was an online fact check, not an on-site inspection of all eight beaches. Facilities that could not be verified are identified in the profiles. The map uses destination links from the operators or tourism authority where available; Khor remains a labelled search. An announcement of a future project is not treated as an opening.

Photo credits beneath each image link to its source. Photographs are resized and cropped to fit the page; their capture dates may differ from the guide’s fact-check date.

Original article by Shafi, first published . This expanded edition is published by Sole Mio, a sunbed and cabana operator at Kite Beach. Beach access and our paid services remain separate.
